What does “non-profit store” mean?
Encore is the secondhand store of the non-profit Hospice Halifax. 100% of proceeds from Encore directly support Hospice Halifax in providing end-of-life care and grief support to individuals and families across Nova Scotia.
Every garment and good you donate or purchase helps Hospice Halifax continue to provide these vital services at no cost for those who need it most. At Encore, we make your shopping purposeful.

Where do you get your items?
Encore is 100% donation-based. Every garment and good in our store has been generously donated by the community, from quality clothing and accessories to unique home decor.

Do you have a price list?
Our team carefully sorts through our stock and sets prices for every garment and good based on brand, quality, and condition.
We carry items ranging from luxury brands to reliable everyday goods. At Encore, we strive to be a place where everyone can find and afford what they need.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes – our gift cards are perfect for any occasion! To purchase a gift card (for any amount), talk to a team member in-store.
Where are you located?
We are located at 2748 King Street in Halifax, Nova Scotia. You can find our store inside the courtyard of Richmond Yards.
Why a secondhand store?
At Hospice Halifax, we see how passing on items from a late loved one becomes a way for families to continue the deceased’s legacy and to feel connected to them even in their absence.
Every item donated has been loved before and carries a history. When someone donates their items, Encore gives the opportunity for the story to continue into a second act.
As a compassion-focused non-profit, we also believe in promoting mindful consumption and reducing waste wherever we can. Together, we’re building a community where giving, finding, and caring connect us all, turning everyday choices into acts of love.
Why are you located in Richmond Yards?
We are incredibly grateful to have our storefront in the North End of Halifax thanks to our working partnership with Westwood Developments. Their generosity helps our operations remain purposeful, with all proceeds from Encore supporting Hospice Halifax.
