Encore is Hospice Halifax’s non-profit secondhand store, which means 100% of proceeds go towards supporting operations at Hospice Halifax. Our store is made possible by our community, including everyone who donates their goods and garments and everyone who volunteers their time to help the store operate.

Group and Corporate Volunteer Opportunities in Halifax
Encore invites groups and corporations to volunteer with us through our “Threads of Compassion” volunteer program!
During a two-hour volunteering session, your team will have the meaningful opportunity to support our mission of making free, compassionate end-of-life care possible.
What To Expect
1.
Before arriving at our store for your session, your team will receive a one pager outlining the expectations and process for the day.

Upon arrival, our staff will give a brief orientation to familiarize you with our store’s mission, operation, and safety guidelines.
As part of your session, you will be tasked with sorting and organizing donated items. This is an ongoing process for us at Encore, ensuring that our store remains well-stocked and provides an enjoyable shopping experience for our valued customers. This involves categorizing items based on type, size, and condition; offering a fantastic opportunity for your team to work collaboratively to efficiently organize goods. We will provide all the necessary equipment (such as gloves, hangers, and bins) to facilitate the sorting process, and a member of our team will be available to answer any questions and provide guidance throughout the session.

At the end of the volunteer session, each member of your volunteer team will receive a 15% discount on all in-store items.
Book Your Group Session
Our store can accommodate teams of 2 to 8 people for a 2 hour session, with sessions available from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. AM on Mondays through Thursdays.
